Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone!!
Hope you are all having gorgeous, chocolate filled days! Sadly the holidays haven't been much of a break for us students, I've been embroidering non stop for a week now. So I thought I'd take 5 minutes to share a few images of my work.

London!

Hi Guys!

Sorry I've been terrible at blogging lately, I've been a bit of a busy bee! A couple of weekends ago I went to Edinburgh to visit my lovely friend, then last week I went on a research trip to London with my uni lovelies; Robyn and Julie. We call it research...however our version of research is wandering around beautiful shops, boutiques and fabric shops...rather idyllic ♥

The highlight of our trip was definitely the Zandra Rhodes afternoon tea at the Mandeville Hotel...look at all the beautiful cakes we had to eat!! I would 100% recommend this if you're in London and fancy a delicious treat.

Hope your past few weeks have been as fabulous as mine! Now its back to the studio and back to hard work

Mondays at Uni

Monday always feels like the longest day, especially when the clock says six and I know we still have a good few hours of working time before I can head home to my pj's! So I thought I'd take a quick break to post about what I've been working on today.

My desk - looking rather tidy today!

From my original paper layouts I have started to experiment with different weights of fabric - this development sheet shows a few examples of the types of vilene I have been using.

Instead of embroidering hundreds of samples just to do it all over again on my final pieces, I have started to draw out my final designs to demonstrate the sitches and beads I will be using. This is my first neck piece design.

Have a lovely evening!

Gorgeousness

Hello Lovelies!

I've been visiting the Lake District with my family every year since I was 5 and I'm completely in love with everything about the place....I could go on for pages about all the places I adore. Sadly I don't have time to write pages so I thought I'd keep it short and sweet by showing you two of my faveorite boutique shops.

The first is the attic, they have one store in Ambleside (which is my personal faveorite) and one in Windermere. It's an adorable little cave full of beautiful things..vintage style gifts, bath, home and accessories ♥

The second store is Poppi Red which also has two store locations, one in Hawkshead and the other in Windermere. The website describes it as

'Poppi Red is a mini department store of girlie heaven, set in the chocolate box village of Hawkshead. It is full to bursting with fabulous clothes, bags, glittering jewels, gorgeous accessories and heavenly homewear.'

I couldn't have put it better myself!

So next time you're in the Lake District I'd definitely recommend you pop in..I promise you will be in love too ♥

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Thought I'd start the week off by posting some photographs. These were taken in Saltwell Park in Gateshead over Christmas time, I have then edited the colours in PhotoShop so that they fit in with my colour palette. Hope they brighten your day a little!

Hi Everyone!

I've been working on my design development this week, photocopying my drawings and creating paper layouts for potential jewellery designs. The intention is that these will eventually be made from different fabrics with heavy embroidery and embellishment, however I am starting with paper to get a feel for how my drawings will sit on the body. I am still unsure as to how 3D and built up I want my final pieces to be, so I have photographed these layouts at different stages to give me a better idea of what I want.
